Back from Scarby, off to an Amtgard event
I made it back from Scarborough. Snicker made it up there and we ran into Potter and Abby. Saturday night I stayed at their apartment and got to ride back to fair Sunday morning riding bitch on Potter's bike. My ass hurt. Fair was its usual self. Noobler rallied a protest march against the Monster Museum. There were wooden protest signs that read things like: "Trolls B-long in caves, not cages", "Gnome means Gnome", "Monster Rights", "No Mo Bad Stuff", etc.. There was a rickshaw chase with water balloons, marsh-mellows, and tomatoes during which a baby stroller carrying precious tin cans was brutally knocked over. Iris and Rose were still my favorite act to take in, and Christoff the Insulter made $408 for the finale insult of his last show on Monday. Beautiful people, beautiful fair. I had fun. Anyway, I made it back and tomorrow I'm off to some Amtgard event. I should see one or two of you there. Current Mood: sleepy | | Friday, May 5th, 2006 | | 3:51 am |
Rob Zombie Concert
The Rob Zombie concert was pretty cool. He put on a really good show, but only played for 1:15 ending promptly at 11:00pm. We think the venue had a curfew thing. Lacuna Coil went on first for 45min, and was very decent. Most of Lacuna Coil's stuff all kind of sounded about the same, but they did do a really cool cover of Depeche Mode - Enjoy the Silence. They would have sounded better if they cleared up and brought out their vocals a bit more. They have some cool two part vocals with the lead singer chick and a backup singer guitarist dude that sounded kind of muffeled most of the time. I think part of it was the wireless mics they were using. A quality microphone and preamp really makes a difference. Rob Zombie draws a really good demographic of people. Lots of cute girls miniskirts, striped pantyhose, and boots. If not that, then they were in a tank top and jeans, and, at any givin moment, could be found moshing or crowd surfing. The guys were your typical metal fan, head banger, moshing, crowd surfing, pot smoking assortment. I didn't see any generic consumer kids that latch onto whatever band that they're told to like this month. It was a good hour and fifteen minutes. The instant they killed the house lights for Rob Zombie's entrance, the scent of hundred joints being lit up simultaniously hits me. Smelled good. I think people are buying more quality domestic grown and less imported. Anyway, they had some cool naked devil lady statues on stage and a projector setup which, in between songs, defaulted to showing Betty Page being a tease. They had good smoke and lighting effects, but no pyrotechnics. I want fire at the next concert I go to damn it! I moshed some, crowdsurfed a couple of times, and got kind of overheated when I was about three squished people back from the center of the stage. I must be getting too old for this stuff, because I actually had to leave the crowd for a bit and go throw some water on my head. I had fun. Concert gets Jebus rating of 14 out of 23 possible Jebus Concert Rating Points. Current Mood: Exhausted | | Tuesday, April 18th, 2006 | | 6:21 pm |
Back from fair
Scarborough was interesting. Lots of cute redheads, everywhere. I saw a booth full of amtgard weapons for sale and met Tinker's long lost cousin, Noobler the Tinker Gnome. My trailer became part of Aria's campsite, so I left it all setup. I'll be going back for final weekend which is a three day memorial day thing. The section of I-10 just east of Winnie, Texas is evil.
Last weekend was interesting. Clan Is When didn't end up happening as planned and we ended up in Lake Charles. We hung out and stayed there a little too long and started heading back with about enough time to get a few hours of sleep and go to work. That didn't happen. One of my tires blew out just before we got to Winnie around the same place I ran out of gas on a previous trip. The tire did not want to come off. most of the time was spent getting the one pain-in-the-ass, stripped, fused-on lug nut off. It took me and Jed(Tink) at least 2 hours. I wasn't keeping track of how it took, so I really don't know. Jill might have a better idea; she had a watch and was basically chain smoking the whole time; at least until she started trying to flag someone down. Anyway, after finally getting all the lug nuts off, and driving over to the right shoulder so that we could successfully jack up the car, we discovered that the tire still didn't want to come off. We tried various methods: banging it with things, kicking it, pulling on it with cord, etc. until a trucker stopped. The trucker was funny. He thought for sure that it would come off and tried pulling on it, banging on it, and after a while had to go and gave up. Before he left he suggested putting a couple of lug nuts barely on, and drive on it. We did this, it shook the rim lose, and we were finally able to change the tire. We got to Jill's house in Houston around 5am, called into work leaving a message, and slept at Jill's house until around 3pm Monday. I wonder what I'll end up doing this weekend. Probably nothing since I need to pay a speeding ticket and get the Neon fixed. Oh well, goodnight. Current Mood: sleepy | | Wednesday, July 11th, 2001 | | 1:23 am |
I forgot to mention... On the way to the shrine tonight one of my tires blew out. I bought that tire used two years ago and the side walls just blew out; still had some tread left. The interesting part is that we(Tink and I) found a razor blade inside the tire, and a lot of the rubber on the inside of the tire had been worn into a powder from it. The razor blade must have been in there since the tire was put on the rim. I'll have to get a spare before taking any major road trips. | | 1:13 am |
I got my car stereo. I installed it on the way to and while I was at Mushroom Shrine. It actually worked this time; Woohoo. They were having an allthing when I got to the shrine, but I got there in time to hear Lance get suspended from the Wetlands for 6 months. Lance seems ok with it though. Angela went back to Louisiana. Her grandmother is really bad off in the hospital, so her family needs her there right now. I planned to go to northern New Mexico with my mom and Angela this weekend to go camping and visit Annie, an old friend/girlfriend. I don't know if I'll actually make it up there, but I'm hoping I will. I really miss Annie. I also hope that Angela gets back in time to go, but she may need to be with her family. Well, It's one am, so I should get some sleep before I need to go to work. goodnight world. Current Mood: sleepy | | Wednesday, May 23rd, 2001 | | 7:35 am |
computer stuff
I was setting up my computer to start playing music in the mornings to see if that might wake me up, but the scheduling program I use doesn't seem to be working. I'll figure it out. Oh, and if anyone out there has gotten C++ compiled cgi apps to work on Apache under Windows 9x, I want to talk to you. I keep getting 404 file not found errors, so I assume I have Apache configured wrong, but I've been through the config file too many times and can't figure it out. | | Monday, April 9th, 2001 | | 9:11 am |
I got back from the weekend the same time I normally do: Monday morning. If I go to work now, I'll fall asleep there, so I'll try sleeping just a little bit before I go in. Hopefully I won't sleep all day. Current Mood: sleepy | | Tuesday, April 3rd, 2001 | | 5:07 am |
I think my weekends last longer than the rest of my week
Last weekend, with Spryghte and Angela, I went to Mushroom Shrine, Dax's party, Granyte Spyre, an erotic art exhibit, a bar to hear Skunkweed play, and Stormwall in that order with some sleeping and eating here and there. I didn't realize how exhausted I was until I got to work on Monday. I got home from work and more or less passed out, which wasn't good, because I should have gone to class. Anyway, I woke up at about 1:00 am and still haven't gone back to sleep. I guess I'll just stay up and get to work early. Current Mood: awake | | Wednesday, March 28th, 2001 | | 12:07 am |
Damn, it's been a month since I last posted
I guess I sort of forgot about the journal for a while. I just went back and looked over some of the posts I missed. I guess I just haven't had time. My throat was really sore, and I needed to get well, so I called in sick to work today. Then, I went back to sleep and slept until I would have normally got off work. I'm feeling a little better. I think Spryghte was more disappointed that I didn't get to see Kittie than I was. She said that she'd fly us out to the next major city that they'll be at. That was really great of her. I'll have to take her up on that offer. Kittie isn't touring though, so it'll have to wait. | | Tuesday, February 27th, 2001 | | 3:05 am |
Spryghte
Ok, officially, for the record, the stupid comment I accidentally blurted out in response to Tink while I was sleepy and exhausted was, "I don't want a girlfriend.", which isn't true. It may have some truth in it, and a lot of truth came from it, but it isn't true. I don't think I want to be Spyghte's boyfriend. She's a great person, and I like many things about her, but I don't seem to be falling for her. I'm not really sure why. It's probably a combination of things. Anyway, we've talked about it, and we've decided that we're drawing the sexual no crossing line right after hugging. I'm going to be her friend, and she's going to be my friend while hoping that a more serious relationship will develop over time. We've also agreed that this will be weird. I hate sleeping at night
I took a couple of the online tests Spryghte told me about ( http://www.emode.com). According to the tests, I am Zeus, the sex god and silly flirt. I'm looking forward to this weekend; I've never been to Mardi Gras before. I've never been to New Orleans either though I've driven through it. I'm always up for a road trip. I need to clean out my car. There's too much stuff in that car that isn't mine. I'm going to have to start a lost and found in my room. I need sleep. Goodnight people. Ok, this is my first post to LiveJournal. This seems like a really great way to keep track of everybody's side of the story, accurate gossiping for the information age. I just got home from class, said hi to Spryghte, and read Spryghte's and Mikela's latest entries. I think I'll talk to Spryghte a little online and then go make something to eat. I'll post my thoughts on the relationship between Spryghte and me once I figure out what I think. Current Mood: hungry |
